Rovers slipped to a 2-0 defeat against reigning champions Manchester United, but it could have been different had they been awarded a late lifeline.Goals from Dimitar Berbatov and Wayne Rooney broke Blackburn's stubborn resistance, after the visitors held firm for 55 minutes.Allardyce's men could have no complaints at finding themselves behind after seeing United squander a number of opportunities before finally forcing a breakthrough. However, they felt they had found a route back into the game in stoppage time when Nikola Kalinic poked home.DisappointingThe effort was ruled out by an assistant referee's flag, but Allardyce admits that, having seen the incident again, he is baffled by how the officials came to that decision. He said: "We cannot have the opportunity taken away from us after we had worked so hard. It is a disappointing scenario to be left with."This is so far onside, it is not a close one. It should have been given. With four minutes to go who knows what might have happened."Allardyce was, however, pleased with the overall commitment on show from his side at the Theatre of Dreams. He added: "They have got two goals through good finishes from Berbatov and Rooney. You cannot argue with their quality but we have stayed right to the end and that is pleasing."
