Liverpool will turn it around, says defiant Rafa Benitez

Rafa Benitez admitted that he was struggling to come to terms with losing at Fulham barely a week after his Liverpool team seemed to have rebuilt their season by beating bitter rivals Manchester United. 'It is hard to take, especially when we were in control of the game,' said the Spaniard. Battle cry: The Reds aren't out of it, according to their boss 'The first half was one-sided. It was unbelievable that we conceded a goal. 'Then we made a massive mistake for their second goal and after that we lost two players inside a few minutes.' Benitez insisted that the club would appeal against the sendings-off of captain Jamie Carragher and fellow defender Philipp Degen. 'For me, Degen's was a yellow card. It was stupid but he was not looking for the player. Carragher was looking at the ball and he touched it. We have to appeal. 'In football, you have to keep calm and try to find solutions. When you are not winning, you have to analyse why. 'You all saw the game against United. We are confident we can turn things around.' Liverpool fear captain Steven Gerrard will need surgery to cure groin problemFulham 3 Liverpool 1: Rafa Benitez reaches breaking point as nine-men crumblePREMIER LEAGUE LIVE: Red card record, Degen and Carragher sent off in Liverpool defeat, 10-man Sunderland deny Hammers and Pompey celebrate impressive winLIVERPOOL NEWS AND VIEWS FROM AROUND THE NET
