Shrews hit by last-gasp equaliser

The centre-back converted Luke Rodgers' cross five minutes from time to cancel out Shrewsbury's deserved first-half lead.Shrews on-loan winger Jamie Devitt had opened the scoring on 30 minutes, calmly slotting past Kasper Schmeichel after being picked out in the box by Dean Holden.Out-muscled in the first-half, the Magpies were contained to just long-range efforts from Craig Westcarr and Rodgers, but had numerous efforts after the interval stopped by the heroics of goalkeeper Steve Phillips.Phillips punched clear Rodgers's stinging effort, stopped Lee Hughes's close range strike with his legs and denied Ade Akinbiyi's turn and shot.Shrewsbury, who had lost three of their last four outings, did have chances to win themselves, with Dave Hibbert's diving header forcing Schmeichel into a full-length save and his follow-up volley being cleared off the line by Lee.
