Smith expects a rough ride
AS Alan Smith prepares for a return to his native Yorkshire for Mondays encounter at Sheffield United, he warned that Newcastle must avoid staying more than one season outside the Premier League. Trouble is, I get similar grief when I go back to Leeds now so theres nowhere in Yorkshire that seems to like me. If we dont get promoted you always have the risk of players seeking a future elsewhere. But Newcastles position as Championship pacesetters is making them an increasingly attractive destination for players seeking to jump on the clubs promotion bandwagon. Sol Campbell is the latest to declare a desire to link up with Chris Hughtons squad. Campbell said: I have been approached by several clubs, and yes, it is correct to say that Newcastle are one of them.
