Parkinson extends Addicks deal

The 41-year-old former Colchester and Hull boss took over from Alan Pardew in November last year, initially as caretaker, but could not prevent the Addicks' relegation from the Championship. However, Charlton's fine start to life in League One - they have lost just one game so far and are four points behind leaders Leeds United - has clearly impressed the hierarchy at The Valley who have tied Parkinson to the club until the end of next season.Parkinson said: "It's good news, and I suppose it can be taken as a sign that the club is progressing, but above all else I'm concentrating on continuing our good start to the season."I'm ambitious and driven to keep improving things at the club. We've done well so far, but we want to keep driving forward."
