Pears: Steele's got it all

Middlesbrough goalkeeping coach Stephen Pears believes youngster Jason Steele is ready to challenge for a place in the first team. The 19-year-old recently returned from the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Egypt and was also named the Keeper of the Tournament while helping the U19s to the European Championship final in August.Brad Jones and Danny Coyne have shared the goalkeeping jersey this season but Pears has put forward Steele's claims. He told the club's official website: "Even last year as an 18-year-old I would have put him in the first team, no problem."He's got everything a modern day goalkeeper needs. He's good in the air and good with his feet and he's going to be really good in the future."
