Guzan did his chances of earning a regular run in the side no harm at all with an inspired display in the midweek Carling Cup win over Sunderland. The American, who has been forced to play understudy to Friedel in the last two seasons, produced some penalty heroics to help Villa book their place in the quarter-finals of the Carling Cup.It has been suggested Guzan could start ahead of Friedel against Everton following his performance in midweek, but O'Neill is just delighted to have the American pair at his disposal."What it [Guzan's performance] only confirms to me is that Brad Guzan is a fantastic goalkeeper in the making, without question," O'Neill told Sky Sports News.Fantastic"That's why we spent so long trying to sign him. The first work permit was rejected, the second was won on appeal which was fantastic for us."We chased it and chased it and I think the reasons are there for all to see."Brad Friedel is obviously a fantastic goalkeeper, so I am delighted we have got two class goalkeepers in our midst and there is real proper competition for places."O'Neill is expecting a tough test against Everton this weekend after the two sides fought a battle for fifth spot last term"I think there was a lot of similarities between the sides last year, a lot of commitment from both clubs and they did brilliantly," he added."They ended up finishing fifth, pipping us to that spot and also got to the cup final."They are strong, resilient and are really well managed."
