Trouble flares as United and Barnsley fans riot at Oakwell

Police made eight arrests at Oakwell last night, as trouble broke out between Manchester United and Barnsley supporters during their fourth round Carling Cup encounter. A spokesman for South Yorkshire Police said catering staff were forced to barricade themselves inside a food kiosk as fans ransacked stock and stole cash from the tills. - Barnsley 0-2 Manchester United - Carling Cup results Four Manchester United supporters and four Barnsley supporters were arrested by police and taken to Barnsley Police Station. A further two arrests were made later, as Barnsley fans trespassed on a trainline. "No-one was injured during this time but one police officer suffered a minor facial injury," said the Police spokesman.
