Sir Alex Ferguson will enjoy his visit to Anfield today more than hemight anticipate because Rafa Benitez will make a conciliatory gestureto the Manchester United boss, despite having sparked the most bittermanagerial feud in recent times with a verbal attack last season. His relationship with Ferguson may be at its nadir - 'before it wasOK but now it is not too much,' concedes Benitez - but there will be abottle of the finest Spanish wine on hand to share after today's game. 'I don't know if it will be from Rioja or from Castilla, but we will have some good wine,' promises Benitez. Ironically, Ferguson once played host to Benitez at United's training ground. Prior to taking charge at Tenerife, Benitez, then aged 40, visited Carrington to observe training. 'Before Tenerife, I went to see him and we had some chats, talking about football.' When Benitez arrived in England in 2004, relations were amicable but it changed. 'Something is different,' says the Anfield boss. 'We are higher in the table.' Or rather, they were last season.
