Rovers boss Barnes vows to fight on
Barnes has struggled with life in League One, his first club job since his ill-fated spell at Celtic, with Rovers picking up just seven points from eleven games.The stuttering start, including a 5-0 drubbing at Millwall, took a further blow on Tuesday night as Rovers were dumped out of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy by League Two side Bury. With calls for his head already coming from the Prenton Park faithful, Barnes has vowed to fight on and insists he has no intention of quitting the management game.Asked on Sky Sports News whether he ever thought management might not be for him, Barnes replied: "Not at all."I've been waiting to get back in. I understand how difficult it is and obviously at Tranmere things have changed. "We've lost six of the first-team players from last year. And while we started well, we went through a week where we played Leeds and Charlton and I think the confidence drained out of the side when we lost those two matches."We came back against Colchester and Wycombe for some good results. We drew against Colchester and we beat Wycombe, but then of course we lost to Millwall."But these are challenges that every manager goes through and the fact that I'm John Barnes and maybe more high-profile than others means nothing."Tranmere lie in the relegation zone with two wins and a draw under their belt ahead of their home clash with Stockport next Monday, a match Barnes will be eager to win to climb up the table."We have to work together, the players are working hard, we're working hard together to turn it around and I'm sure we will."But of course, you go through the ups and downs in football and unfortunately for me and Tranmere we're in a down period, but I'm sure we'll get out of it."I'm not the first manager to go through this, and I certainly won't be the last.
