Former West Ham chairman Eggert Magnusson is ready to step in to save the cash-strapped club - but only at a cut-price rate.Wear your colours with pride: Eggert Magnusson as West Ham chairman two years agoThe 62-year-old Icelandic biscuit baron was part of a 2006 Upton Park buyout that crumbled with the recession and saw the Hammers snapped up by CB Holdings.But Magnusson still lives in London and wants to return to the club he still regards as his own after his time at the helm ended when ex-owner Bjorgolfur Gudmundsson's Icelandic banking empire collapsed with debts of £300m and he sold to CB Holdings - owned by Icelandic bank Straumur.However, with the club near the foot of the Premier League, manager Gianfranco Zola a reported target for Serie A side Napoli, and reports of all the players being up for sale, Straumur chief Andrew Bernhardt has been in negotiations with potential buyers from Asia and America - and according to reports in The Sun he is fully aware of Magnusson's interest.However, Magnusson is not willing to meet the current asking rate of £100m and will be keeping a keen eye on Bernhardt's progress.
