Reid not giving up on Ireland

Reid has again been overlooked by coach Giovanni Trapattoni for the forthcoming qualifiers against Italy and Montenegro.The former Tottenham and Nottingham Forest ace has fallen out of favour under Trapattoni after a reported bust-up between the pair last September.Trapattoni has insisted once again Reid remains in his plans and the 27-year-old is determined to continue performing well for Sunderland."I have no control over being selected for Ireland - the only thing I can control is to perform for Sunderland," Reid told The Journal."That is the only response open to me. I can't sit in my house and worry about not getting into the Ireland squad."I don't pick the Ireland squad. I love playing for Ireland and if the opportunity came to play, I would be delighted."
