The diminutive midfielder has dropped off boss Brendan Rodgers' radar of late having not been included in the Royals' matchday squad for the last two Championship matches.
The £300,000 signing from Coventry has started three league games this season but has not featured in the first team since the 3-1 home defeat to Sheffield United on August 22.
Winger Hal Robson-Kanu and Academy player Jacob Walcott also scored against Forest Green.
Reserve-team manager Nigel Gibbs told the Evening Post: "I was pleased with the team's attitude and work-rate, but a bit disappointed we didn't score a few more to make the win that little bit more comfortable.
"We dominated the first half and should have had a few more after creating some good openings in front of goal."
