The club captain scored his third goal of the season in the 2-2 draw against Tottenham. It was just reward for the 32-year-old after another typically tenacious and industrious performance. In front of watching England manager Fabio Capello, Davies kept Tom Huddlestone on his toes throughout the 90 minutes although the emergency centre half stuck to his task.Tottenham boss Redknapp said: "Kevin Davies is always a threat. He messes people around."He is so difficult to play against. He is like an old-fashioned centre forward to my mind."Bolton manager Gary Megson said: "If you play the kind of football Kevin thrives on, he is a huge threat."Megson took issue with referee Mike Jones over his treatment of Davies. He said: "I told him at half-time, 'I don't want Kevin Davies looking after but he doesn't need persecuting as he is a big strong lad.'"He plays with his heart on his sleeve and he competes. The referee said I have only given two fouls against him. Have you seen his record?"It is not a referee's job to be looking at someone's record. They must look at the game going on and judge how they see fit."Bolton got off to a perfect start with Ricardo Gardner opening the scoring in the third minute after Lee Chung-Yong's effort had been parried. It looked bleak for Tottenham given they have never won a league match at the ground in nine attempts but they regrouped and equalised through Niko Kranjcar.Bolton responded through Davies's header at the back post with Lee again involved in the build up, only for Vedran Corluka to secure a point for the visitors.Peter Crouch scorned a glorious chance in front of goal a minute before Corluka's equaliser and Redknapp said: "He should have scored but the keeper has performed a miracle."To come back twice was fine. Obviously you want to pick three points up but when we were 2-1 down I would certainly have taken a point."We deserved a draw. They started brightly while we were slow getting going. But we came back strongly."Megson is pleased with Lee's progress - the Korean scored the winner at Birmingham last weekend."Lee will get better as he gets fitter," said the Bolton boss. "He was absolutely shattered after the game."He has got that ability to settle on the ball. His touch and control are second to none as is his awareness."Lee, Tamir Cohen - a £37,000 buy - and Gardner were all impressive as Bolton confounded their critics by playing some good, passing football.Megson added: "There is a perception of this club of what people expect. The reality of what is going on, you have seen it today."There was some really good stuff. We don't just hoof it. Our average height is smaller than Tottenham's. We are trying to win games playing decent football."The way we went about our work from minute one to 94 should have won us the game. I am really pleased with performance but we had enough chances to have sealed a victory." Barclays Premiership. Click here to bet.
