Fife Cup Draw

Five clubs will battle it out this season for the title of ' Kings of Fife ' The draw for the 2012/13 season Fife Cup was made last week at the Fifeshire FA AGM. Like 2011/12 Cowdenbeath have been handed an away tie against Burntisland Shipyard in the First Round with the winners meeting East Fife at home in the semi final. In the other last four tie it's Raith Rovers v Dunfermline Athletic. Cowden vice chairman John Lints was appointed as new vice chairman of the association at the meeting . East Fife's Jim Stevenson was appointed as secretary. These days the local competition in the Kingdom is very much an exercise in blooding fringe players for the four Fife SFL sides but it is still a historical competition in the best traditions of Scotland's local associations set-up. Shipyard's best outing against The Blue Brazil in the Fife Cup was in the early 70's when the amateurs managed a 5-4 defeat at Central Park against a Cowdenbeath side which contained a mixture of reserve players who had finished in the top 3 in the East of Scotland League when Cowdenbeath 'A' competed in that league and players that had represented Cowden in the old First Division for a season. It was a different story in last season's competition when Cowden hit 11 without reply at the Fife coastal amateur club. Scoring four in the first half and seven in the second.
