Distin signs new deal with Everton

French defender Sylvain Distin has signed a new one-year contract with Premier League club Everton, the Merseyside club announced on Friday.Distin's current deal expired at the end of this season but the 34-year-old was keen to remain at Goodison Park and, after another impressive campaign for the Toffees, a new agreement has been reached to keep him until the end of next term."Sylvain Distin has signed a new one-year contract with Everton which will keep him at Goodison Park for the 2012/13 season," a statement on the club's website announced.Former Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain star Distin has made 115 appearances for Everton since joining from Portsmouth almost three years ago and was recently voted Players' Player of the Season."I love my job and I know how lucky I am to do this kind of job," Distin said. "I want to carry on as long as I can. No matter what happens, you can be sure I'll be there the next day."It's a good squad here with a great atmosphere. I feel so comfortable with the lads, so it's a pleasure. Guys like (Leighton) Baines, (Marouane) Fellaini, (John) Heitinga, (Phil) Jagielka, (Tim) Howard -- there's a lot of quality in this squad."
