King Kurtis Ready For The Fray

Good enough for the First Division, but is Kurtis Byrne good enough for the SPL Ross County will be taking up the SPL challenge next year with the striker who scored their first and last goals of the First Division title winning season. They did not off to a great start in 2011-12 when Hibs youngster Kurtis Byrne scored in the Dingwall side’s 5-1 loss against Hamilton Accies in their second League game. However, things were rather better when he scored the last goal in their 5-3 win over Queen of the South in Dumfries after racking up34 unbeaten games. Byrne will be boosted  with his chance to show how he can cope with SPL defences and will hope to record a similar record next season.  He is joined in the SPL squad by midfielder Stuart Kettlewell, who joined the Staggies from Clyde in summer 2009 and has played over 80 times, who has also signed a new deal. The Staggies manager Derek Adams said: "Kurtis is a young player who has an eye for goal. He has the distinction of scoring the first and last goals of our title winning League campaign and I am sure he’ll be looking to build on a solid first season at the club. Stuart has established himself as an important cog in our midfield and I know that having been playing as an amateur at Queen’s Park just four years ago he appreciates just what it means to have an opportunity to test himself in the SPL."
