May apologises after sorry showing

Bairns boss May watched his shot-shy side fail to create a single clear-cut chance as they made it a hat-trick of nil-nils in the SPL.It could have been worse but for goalkeeper Robert Olejnik, who produced two stunning saves to deny Mehdi Taouil and Kevin Kyle what looked certain goals."It was absolute murder," May said of the fare on show."I apologise to the people who are having to pay to watch that."We've played four games in 12 days, with virtually the same personnel and we haven't got a big enough squad to rotate."The result nevertheless lifted Falkirk off the foot of the table and May is confident they can stay there."If we can keep our players fresh, I'm sure we'll go on and compete well in this league," he said. The home side went into today's game on the back of Wednesday night's Co-operative Insurance Cup thrashing at the hands of Celtic.May said: "We tried to entertain against Celtic but got beaten four-nothing."We didn't entertain today and got a point."What's right? We got a point. What's wrong? We have to get a little bit better in terms of creating chances."But if you've got nothing left in the tank, you can't criticise anybody."He added: "It just so happens we never created a decent chance today."But there are goals there; it's just a case of trying to get them."And once you get the goals, you win games."As well as blaming fatigue, May pointed the finger at Killie for contributing to what was a turgid match."They're a horrible team to play against," he said."They're big, they're physical, they batter the ball forward and they try to create goals for their front guys."First and foremost, we have to go and combat that."If we were too open, I felt we'd lose goals."May revealed Thomas Scobbie and Danijel Marceta both came off injured today, while Ryan Flynn and Vitor Lima were also struggling. With Scott Arfield already missing, the Bairns boss hopes the quartet recover quickly."If not, we'll be playing our under-19s," he joked.Killie boss Jim Jefferies agreed the match was a terrible spectacle but felt his side had the chances to snatch all three points."I thought if any team was going to score, it was going to be us," the former Falkirk manager said."We probably put a bit more pressure on in the second half and their goalie's had far more to do than ours and he made the save at the end from big Kyle's header."We felt we put a lot of good balls in the box and nothing fell for us."Jefferies also has big injury worries and did not make a substitution all game."We had a lot of players out today," he said, admitting he was pleased with his side's first positive result on their travels this season."It's our first point away from home this year."We know the teams round about us in the bottom half - apart from Falkirk - have not picked up anything today so we jump a place."Defender Frazer Wright was briefly forced from the field with a head injury which needed bandaging up."He's got a cut on his head that they're gluing up," Jefferies said."He'll be all right - just a lot of blood."
