£500 could get you a stadium ...or at least one named after you!

READING has the Madjeski, Bolton has the Reebok and Stoke has the Britannia. Now AFC Bournemouths stadium is looking for a new name and, for just a few hundred pounds, you could be the one to choose it. Back in July, the Cherries were on the verge of signing a three-year deal worth at least £150,000 with a business keen to buy the naming rights for Court">Dean Court. But this fell through at the very last minute and the football club has now decided to try a different approach. For £495 plus VAT, supporters and businesses can join the AFCB Patrons club, which will give them automatic entry into a prize draw for the stadium naming rights for the rest of this season and the whole of the next one. There will be other cash prizes for the runners-up and all patrons will be included on a roll of honour in the clubs programme. The team is currently flying high at the top of League Two, with promotion looking a real possibility. The winner will have the name of their choice emblazoned on the outside of the stadium on both ends of the Main Stand and above the main reception. The package also includes two advertising boards inside the stadium and hospitality for 10 people at a selected home game. In a statement announcing the initiative, the club states: This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for you or your business to leave its legacy in the history books at Dean Court. If you have ever dreamed of a football stadium being named after you or your company then now is the time to wake up and make it happen. Anyone interested should contact commercial manager Rob Mitchell on 01202 726322 or email rob.mitchell@afcb.co.uk or collect an application form from the club shop.
