Fergie dismisses goalie gaffes and insists: Foster is still No1

Manchester United's under-pressure goalkeeper Ben Foster will keep his place at former club Stoke but manager Sir Alex Ferguson was uncomfortable discussing the England player's worrying form. Foster will play because No 1 goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar remains three weeks away from a return and Poland's Tomasz Kuszczak is not considered good enough. Under pressure: Manchester City's Carlos Tevez steals the ball from goalkeeper Ben Foster to set up team-mate Gareth Barry to score during the Manchester derby But Foster will be put under pressure by Stoke's direct football after making two errors in last Sunday's derby against Manchester City and one against Arsenal last month. Ferguson was asked about Foster and he suggested that the 26-year-old will recover from his early-season problems. But it all got a bit much for the United boss when he was asked about communication problems between his goalkeeper and the central defenders. Ferguson snapped: 'I'm not getting into the City game, I'm not getting into that at all, right? I've answered the question, he's playing tomorrow. I'm not worried about it at all. 'Foster is showing great qualities,' added Ferguson, without saying what they were. 'We are not worrying about the odd mistake - young players make them all the time - and he's not had a great deal of game experience. I've not got a problem with the boy.'  A leap of faith: Nicky Butt jumped off Sugar Loaf with Roy Keane, but now both have new mountains to climb.Reprieve for United and City as FIFA admit transfer probes could take years  Explore more:People:Tomasz Kuszczak, Alex Ferguson, Ben Foster, Gareth Barry, Carlos Tevez, Edwin Van der SarPlaces:Manchester, United Kingdom, Poland
