Gordon Taylor on PFA Players' Player of the Year nominee: Wayne Rooney

"United have suddenly worked their way through to the top of the league. People were saying this is far from being one of the best teams but they have managed to come through and Wayne Rooney has managed to keep a consistency and sharpness and his goalscoring record is there for all to see. He has taken on quite a responsible mantle. When he is in the team and doing well, it is no wonder they made the efforts to get him and to keep him because I think he has fully justified the faith Sir Alex Ferguson has had in him. "I think there has been a maturity coming into his game. You could fit him in various areas, like many top players. His goalscoring is his top quality but he does have that ability to do a job for the team and I think his commitment is top class. You still tend to think of him as a young player, like a young bull when he is rampaging through a defence - there is no better sight - because he has everybody on the back foot."Wayne Rooney player profileGordon Taylor's thoughts on Joe HartGordon Taylor's thoughts on David SilvaGordon Taylor's thoughts on Sergio AgueroGordon Taylor's thoughts on Robin Van PersieGordon Taylor's thoughts on Scott ParkerGordon Taylor's thoughts on Kyle WalkerGordon Taylor's thoughts on Danny Welbeck Gordon Taylor's thoughts on Daniel SturridgeGordon Taylor's thoughts on Alex Oxlade-ChamberlainGordon Taylor's thoughts on Gareth Bale
