Police join FA in probe over Norwich v Charlton tunnel bust-up at Carrow Road

The Football Association have confirmed they are investigating a clash between Norwich and Charlton players in the tunnel at half-time during Saturday's 2-2 draw at Carrow Road. Tempers flared between both sets of players after Addicks midfielder Nicky Bailey appeared to kick out at Norwich captain Grant Holt in the closing stages of the first half. Referee Steve Tanner subsequently included the incident in his match report. 'We are aware of the incident in question and we are making enquiries accordingly,' confirmed an FA spokesman. 'Depending on those enquiries, we will decide if any further action will be necessary.' The match itself also ended in controversial circumstances. Charlton 'keeper Rob Elliot was convinced he had been fouled by Holt as the Canaries snatched a point in stoppage-time with a fortuitous finish off their captain's back. Trouble then erupted in the stands and police were forced to intervene, handing out a number of public order notices, while one person was removed from the grounds after his behavior became 'unacceptable'. No formal arrests were made but a spokesman for Norfolk police confirmed officers would be studying CCTV footage. 'There was a disturbance and police officers had to intervene to prevent any further problems,' he said. 'We shall now be looking at CCTV footage to see if any further action needs to be taken for home or away fans at the game.'
