Britton in talks over new Swans deal

Britton has spent the last seven years with the Swans, having initially joined the Welsh outfit on loan from West Ham in 2002.The 26-year-old now admits he would welcome the opportunity to see out his playing days at the Liberty Stadium, helping to dash reports that he was seeking a switch closer to his young daughter in London."The rumours are always going to go about when you have a year left on your contract," Britton said in the South Wales Evening Post."It has been difficult for me because my daughter is in London. There is an off-the-field issue there which is difficult for me because I don't get to see her as much as I would like."But that's life, I have to try to adjust around that and see as much of my daughter as I can."I am focused on my football but at the same time I want to be there for my daughter, see her grow up and be a dad."The international breaks help so I can see her and she comes up to see me for home games."I want to be here - it's a balancing act that you have to get right."But I would love to finish my career here."We met with the club on Monday to talk about extending my contract here."I'm hoping it will be a long-term contract that would hopefully see me get a testimonial and that would take me up to 30 years old if it is all agreed."We are waiting for a call back from the chairman. When he does we will go from there. The ball is back in Swansea's court." Barnsley v Swansea. Click here to bet.
