Former Stanley player to appeal ban

The 27-year-old received the ban after being found guilty of betting against his own side when they played Bury in May 2008.Cavanagh maintains his innocence and his barrister, Martin Budworth, told the Lancashire Telegraph: "We're hopeful that we can show that the sanction was excessive and disproportionate in front of a fresh panel."Former Stanley players Jay Harris, Robbie Williams and David Mannix, along with ex-Bury striker Andy Mangan, were also banned for various lengths of time and will have their appeals heard on Tuesday.
