New ref line-up a mystery to Moyes

Everton boss David Moyes claims his club have been left very much in the dark about UEFA's plans to test-drive a new refereeing system with five officials this season. The new plan, using two extra assistant referees behind each goal, will get its first airing in this term's Europa League. Everton will have a first-hand look at the new idea when they face AEK Athens on Thursday night at Goodison Park in an opening Group I clash. Moyes is willing to give the new plan every chance, but says: "The new rules regarding two extra assistants behind the goals is something we have been given very little detail about." He added: "There has been no advice from the referees' body, I believe they will be able to tell the referees what they see and may even come onto the pitch. "But if it helps to get decisions right in the end it will be a good thing." Moyes is without skipper Phil Neville for three months with knee ligament damage, while Tony Hibbert is suspended and new defender John Heitinga ineligible. The Everton chief will give £10million Russian winger Diniyar Bilyaletdinov his full debut tonight. Moyes says: "Billy will get his opportunity, but he is finding the speed of the game a little hard. But maybe a European match is the sort of game to give him his first start."
