Ranger makes way for Carroll for Magpies

TEENAGE striker Nile Ranger has been given a breather after an impressive start to life in the Newcastle first team at Blackpool. Ranger has been named among the substitutes at Bloomfield Road after Chris Hughton's decision to recall Andy Carroll after a groin injury had kept him out since August. Hughton has also made one other enforced change, with the suspended Alan Smith replaced by Nicky Butt in the heart of the Magpies midfield. Newcastle are looking to claim the point that will take them back to the top of the Championship. BLACKPOOL (4-4-2): Rachubka; Eardley, Evatt, Baptiste, Crainey; Bouazza, Southern, Adam, Vaughan; Ormerod, Euell. Subs: Gilks, Clarke, Martin, Emmanuel-Thomas, Bangura, Edwards, Almond. NEWCASTLE UNITED (4-4-1-1): Harper; Simpson, S Taylor, Coloccini, Enrique; R Taylor, Butt, Nolan, Barton; Guthrie; Carroll. Subs: Lovenkrands, Geremi, Lua-Lua, Krul, Kadar, Ranger, Donaldson.
