Andre Villas-Boas prepares for Chelsea v Napoli

When Andre Villas-Boas and Didier Drogba entered the packed press auditorium at the Stadio San Paolo, someone enquired as to the name of the Portuguese chap who was with the Chelsea manager. It was a joke that was inspired by the suggestion that Drogba had given the half-time team talk in the tunnel at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, a suggestion that provoked an angry response from Villas-Boas having just seen his stuttering side draw with  Birmingham City. But it was also symptomatic of where Chelsea are right now and, perhaps more to the point, where the manager stands at a club who have not tolerated failure and mediocrity these past few years.
