Deeney combination excites Byfield

There was some concern among Saddlers fans with the club not having scored for four games prior to Saturday's trip to Prenton Park, but Deeney's brace and a further strike from Byfield - their first goals of the season - secured a 3-2 triumph over Tranmere. Byfield told Saddlers Player: "As strikers we always want to score and any of the strike partners I play with I want to help them and they help me and we set each other up. I'm enjoying playing with Troy. "We work well together in training as well and we're going to get better playing with each other and learning each others movements and so on. "Hopefully a successful partnership will mean a successful team." As well as being his first goal of the season, Byfield's follow-up strike was his first since joining Walsall. He added: "I did say that if I didn't score on Saturday then I'd start getting worried because when you go three games without a goal it's like.especially when you haven't got your first goal. But we knew we'd score goals, we've had chances."
