Kolo Toure slams Arsenal stars over their treatment of Manchester City bad boy Emmanuel Adebayor

Kolo Toure has hit back at Arsenal's stars over their treatment of former team-mate Emmanuel Adebayor. The Manchester City striker, who left the Gunners in a £25million summer switch, has been heavily criticised for his antics in City's 4-2 win over the Gunners on Saturday. Adebayor appeared to stamp on Robin van Persie's face before racing down the length of the pitch to celebrate in front of the visiting fanms at Eastlands. But Toure, who also quit Arsenal to join City in the summer, has launched an attack on the behaviour of his former team-mates. 'I am astounded because he has received blows from all the Arsenal players,' he told The Sun. 'Even though he was the first to go and salute them in the tunnel, even those who had an affinity with him didn't want to shake his hand. For me that is unacceptable.' Toure has also taken a swipe at Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, adding: 'There was a very difficult moment with the supporters. At the start of the game they were whistling at him as if he never brought anything to the club. It was hard. 'Certain people want others to believe he left for the money but we know he was pushed to leave. I know it because I was present. I firmly believe he left to bring money to the club.' Toure does admit that Adebayor should have aimed his frustration towards Wenger or the Arsenal board rather than the fans. 'I don't caution him for his gesture although I tried to stop him and I also have apologised to the fans,' he said. 'It's not to them that he should do this. 'I told him that this was not a good thing and he apologised. The problem is that they booed him while they applauded me. It was a reaction of pride. The whole world could have a reaction like that.'
