The Dutch midfielder is poised to play some part against Bristol City at the Liberty Stadium on Tuesday night after 10 months on the sidelines with a cruciate knee ligament problem.
Sousa told the South Wales Evening Post: "Ferrie is a smart player. He can involve everyone and make sure we don't lose focus in the game.
"Some players do not keep their concentration - it's not easy - and you need to have players like him who can help them.
"He can keep everyone alive on the pitch."
