QPR V Wolverhampton at Loftus Road Stadium : Match Preview

Hughes has faith in new strikersManager Mark Hughes has backed his new £10million strikeforce of Bobby Zamora and Djibril Cisse to fire QPR into the top half of the Barclays Premier League. England international Zamora, who played under Hughes at Fulham, joined Rangers on transfer deadline day and will make his debut in the clash with Wolves. The 31-year-old will play alongside former Liverpool and Sunderland striker Cisse, who scored on his debut in Wednesday's 2-2 draw with Aston Villa. Rangers are two places and three points above the relegation zone but, following a busy transfer window at Loftus Road, Hughes is looking up the table rather than down. "I'm really looking forward to seeing them play together, they've got great qualities that will complement each other," Hughes said. "I think Bobby enjoyed his time under me at Fulham. The type of work we gave him helped him and we supported him when he was out through injury."When he came back in the second half of last season he was exceptional and was a big reason why we ended up eighth in the Premier League."If he can have a similar impact in the second half of this season that will augur well for us because we need to win games and score goals, that's why he is here." Cisse, 30, is back in England after spells with Panathinaikos and Lazio and took just 12 minutes to get off the mark for his new club at Villa Park. Hughes added: "Djibril's style of play is made to measure for the Premier League. In Italy the style of play was too slow, he's very much a Premier League player in my opinion."If you look at his goalscoring record he has played just over 450 games and scored 220 goals, at top clubs, and not many strikers have that goals-to-game ratio. "That's what got me excited about bringing him here. He's fitted in extremely well and he's glad to be back in the Premier League. "We have invested heavily but what I wanted was complementary skills and different skill sets within the group of strikers I have available and we've got that now."I'm very comfortable with the work we did in the window and the quality of strikers is now very good." Hughes has Adel Taarabt and Armand Traore available to face Wolves after they returned from African Nations Cup duty but eight-goal top scorer Heidar Helguson is still out with a groin injury.Wolves boss Mick McCarthy has set his side a 38-point survival target as he looks for his side to bounce back from their "unacceptable" performance against Liverpool. McCarthy came in for heavy criticism after the 3-0 midweek loss against the Reds extended their run without a win in the Barclays Premier League to nine games. He knows Wolves have to tighten up defensively after more glaring errors which were exploited by Kenny Dalglish's side but is refusing to press the panic button. It could lead to a debut for on loan Tottenham defender Sebastien Bassong, who signed only minutes before the transfer window closed on Tuesday. McCarthy said: "I thought, with 18 games to play, if we could get 21 points out of it from where we were, to take us to 38, that would be a good tally. "That is still possible to do. Is it going to be enough? I think it will be because I think it will be a low tally that stays up. "But they are all key games, starting with QPR on Saturday. No-one wants to be in the bottom three at anytime. The lads are hurting. But I said to them there is no panic here. We've been in this position before."If you start panicking, start doing something radical or different, the lads think straight away 'panic stations' but we are not into that." McCarthy admitted:"That (against Liverpool) was as bad a performance as we've had home or away. It was dire in the second half and fans expect better that that."But I know fortunes can change so quickly. It happened to us last year on a number of occasions. "We went to Bolton and it was like the end of the world and then we came here and beat Manchester United."I know how quickly it can turn around. That's why I don't get too down and am always full of optimism." Midfielder Karl Henry is still suspended for Wolves. QPR V Wolverhampton - view commentary, squad, and statictics of the game live.
