The 25-year-old joined The Black Cats from Hull City just before the transfer deadline closed earlier this month. He is now set to make his debut against his former club on Saturday, and Bruce is looking for big things from him.Turner has previously been on the fringes of the England squad and Bruce wants him to make that next step in Sunderland colours."I know he has been on the fringes of it. On a couple of Saturday nights, I do believe he has been on stand-by," said Bruce."He is up against some very, very good players in that department, but it just shows you how well he has done."DelightBruce was delighted to have landed Turner, who attracted interest from a host of rival Premier League clubs."He grasped it last year very easily. He is very, very comfortable on the ball," he continued."I like his grounding because he has been in the lower divisions and he has progressed ever so well."I hope he can go on and have a really good career as a top Premier League defender."He has got all the attributes. He has certainly got everything we wanted to get."He is big and aggressive and when the ball comes into both boxes, he wants to head it, which has been our Achilles heel."
