Cheltenham 0-2 Bristol Rovers: Match Report

McGhee makes winning startGoals from Chris Zebroski and Eliot Richards gave Bristol Rovers a 2-0 victory at Cheltenham and got Mark McGhee's reign as manager off to the perfect start.Rovers took a firm grip on the game with a two-goal burst in four minutes either side of the hour mark.Zebroski opened the scoring when he latched onto a perfectly-weighted through ball from recently-arrived substitute Scott McGleish before firing an angled shot past Scott Brown. The rangy striker also played a key role in the Pirates' second goal. When Brown was unable to hold his powerful 25-yard drive and home skipper Alan Bennett hesitated, Richards nipped in to tap home.A poor opening 45 minutes produced little goalmouth action. Indeed, it took until the 44th minute for the game to burst into life, when Zebroski placed a firm header against the outside of a post following Gary Sawyer's left-wing cross.Cheltenham substitutes Jeff Goulding and debutant Jermaine McGlashan both forced saves from Michael Poke before McGleish missed a golden chance to seal the points when he headed narrowly wide.Cheltenham 0-2 Bristol Rovers: Match Report - view commentary, squad, and statictics of the game as it happened.
