Coach Colin Calderwood insists Newcastle are not getting carried away by their excellent start to the Championship campaign.
The Magpies sit top of the table thanks to a four-game winning streak which followed an opening-day draw at West Brom for a haul of 13 points out of 15.
Calderwood told the club`s official website: "It`s been an excellent start but that`s all it is, a start. We`ve got to build from here.
"We`re enjoying things so far and so too are the supporters who have been magnificent. The supporters here are whole-heartedly behind the club and we hope to do the best we can for them."
Meanwhile, Wesley Ngo Baheng scored the only goal as the reserves beat Bradford 1-0 at St James` Park.
