Chimbonda only returned to White Hart Lane in January after a brief stint with Sunderland and had been hoping to reclaim the place in the Spurs backline that he had occupied for two seasons between 2006 and 2008.But things worked out differently and, after making only one leaguestart under Harry Redknapp, the 30-year-old realised it was time tomove on.
