Jan prepared for Tigers bow

Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink insists he is ready to make his Hull debut against Sunderland this weekend if called upon by manager Phil Brown. Although the Dutch striker was a free agent before joining the Tigers last week, he took part in a full pre-season in his homelamd with Steve McClaren's FC Twente. And with Jozy Altidore unlikely to return from international duty with the USA until Friday, Vennegoor of Hesselink may be given a chance to impress against the Black Cats. He told the Hull Daily Mail: "I have never felt so fit. After leaving Celtic, I trained with my physio and after that Steve McClaren let me train with FC Twente. "They had Champions League qualifiers so the training was very intense. It meant I was still playing football and I now have a base to build from."
