Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink insists he is ready to make his Hull debut against Sunderland this weekend if called upon by manager Phil Brown.
Although the Dutch striker was a free agent before joining the Tigers last week, he took part in a full pre-season in his homelamd with Steve McClaren's FC Twente.
And with Jozy Altidore unlikely to return from international duty with the USA until Friday, Vennegoor of Hesselink may be given a chance to impress against the Black Cats.
He told the Hull Daily Mail: "I have never felt so fit. After leaving Celtic, I trained with my physio and after that Steve McClaren let me train with FC Twente.
"They had Champions League qualifiers so the training was very intense. It meant I was still playing football and I now have a base to build from."
