Stanley ask for outside cash boost

The League Two side narrowly avoided closure in the summer due to money owed to HM Revenue and Customers but have been told they have to pay back £308,000 within the next eight weeks. The club say they are looking to "tap into the goodwill of all who support Accrington" and have set up a number of initiatives to try and raise the cash.Through a bespoke website, the club are allowing fans to make donations, while a specialist telephone and SMS service has been created to allow people to make a contribution that way.Stanley are also looking to host an all-star football game, while a number of dinners and activities have been scheduled. The club have also been boosted by the news that Burnley manager Owen Coyle has offered to provide a side to play in a money-spinning friendly on September 8."We will always help our friends down the road," said Clarets chairman Barry Kilby."We have always had good relations with Accrington and we know how difficult it can be for smaller clubs in the respective leagues."
