West Brom have agreed an undisclosed fee with Dundee United for midfielder Scott Allan.Head coach Roy Hodgson confirmed the Baggies have been in discussions with United for the 20-year-old but Albion face competition from other clubs north of the border with Rangers and Celtic interested in the Scotland Under-21 international.Hodgson also stressed Allan was a player for the future and not for his imminent first-team plans. He said: "I know Dan Ashworth (Albion technical and sporting director) has been in talks with Dundee United and we have followed the player."He added: "We are talking about a 20-year-old. It is not outside of my responsibilities but it is something I've left Dan to pretty much get on with."Last I heard talks are going well. Dan likes the player and thinks he has got an interesting future."You always as a coach have got to be happy when the club is looking to sign talented players who can be something for you in the future."He is not a player we've discussed in first team terms, to improve the first team straight away. He will need some time."Allan's current deal with United expires next summer. He made his debut in a Europa League qualifier against Slask Wroclaw and has played in six Scottish Premier League games but has not featured in the starting line-up in recent weeks.
