Cherries: Loyal Pearce rubbishes rumours

KEY player Jason Pearce has reiterated his commitment to Cherries by firmly dismissing the transfer rumours which have linked him with a move away from Dean Court. In recent weeks, the central defender has featured in the national press, with Wolverhampton Wanderers and Plymouth Argyle rumoured to be chasing his signature. But speaking before helping Cherries to a deserved 1-0 home victory over Crewe Alexandra yesterday, Cherries stand-in skipper moved to clear up the speculation. He told the Echo: Some of the lads said to me about Plymouth, but I dont know anything about it. Ive just signed a three-year deal here and I want to play for the club. Ive shown my commitment to the club and the club have showed their commitment back to me, and Im just focused on doing well for Bournemouth. I want to keep my head down and work hard for the club and take the club where it should be. He added: Ill just keep proving myself and I dont need to listen to any of the rumours. Ill just keep trying to play well for the club. Hopefully we can keep playing well as a team and take the club to where it should be back into League One. Pearce continued to impress as he turned in another solid performance in yesterdays victory over Crewe. And, following the match, the former Portsmouth trainee praised what he described as another team performance. He said: We worked so hard as a team and, when Liam Feeney scored a great goal, we hung on to the lead and won 1-0 again. I thought at Northampton we played really well and played some really good football up there, but we lost the game. Against Crewe, we didnt play as well but we grafted, got the result we needed and got the three points. Discussing another victory for his in-form side, Cherries boss Eddie Howe said: It was always going to be a tough game Crewe are a very, very good side. They have an unusual formation and I knew they were going to make it difficult for us. I did think about tinkering with it during the week and we did a few sessions on changing it. But I woke up in the morning and thought no, well stick to 4-4-2 and thankfully it paid off for us. The game was won by a brilliant solo effort from Feeney on 51 minutes and Howe was full of praise for the exciting prospect. Liams been excellent for us all season, added Howe. Hes really come on and really improved. He took his goal excellently and he was a threat again all afternoon.
