Cobblers downed by nightmare show

A blunder by goalkeeper Chris Dunn put the skids under Stuart Gray's men as they leaked three goals in the first 11 minutes. Dunn set the tone for a shocking defensive display by the visitors in the second minute when he failed to a control a Paul Rodgers back pass and allowed Shaun Harrad to walk the ball into the empty net.Dunn was far from blameless as Burton extended their lead thanks to another comedy of errors in the seventh minute.Crosses from Paul Boertien and Jimmy Phillips were not properly cleared and the keeper allowed a mis-hit shot from Michael Simpson to creep under his body and over the line from 12 yards. The contest was as good as over four minutes later when Simpson struck again, this time in more convincing fashion with a shot that flew in off the underside of the crossbar from 18 yards. The visitors continued to improve in the second half and pulled a goal back in the 71st minute when Guinan struck from close range after a Luke Boden shot had been parried by Krysiak. And Burton had to hang on for their second home win of the campaign when Ryan Gilligan further reduced the deficit from the penalty spot after Billy McKay had been bundled over by Guy Branston.
