Sion maintain Europa challenge
FC Sion have again turned to the Swiss court in their bid to force their way back into the Europa League at Celtic's expense. The Swiss Super League side were thrown out of the competition for fielding ineligible players in their play-off tie against Celtic, who were installed in Group I in their place.UEFA on Tuesday dismissed Sion's attempts to be reinstated via the civil courts, stating they would await the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport on the matter.Nevertheless, Sion have produced a new court order demanding a response from UEFA by noon on Monday outlining "the measures it has taken to integrate Sion".A court order from the Tribunal Cantonal de Vaud, reproduced on Sion's website, read: "Given the provisional measures of October 5, given the application and the enforcement measures filed by Olympique des Alpes SA [Sion] on October 13, given the advisory letter of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) on the same day, [and] given the extreme urgency with regard to the conclusion of a query, the deputy judge of the civil court of the Tribunal cantonal:"I. orders the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) to communicate to Olympique des Alpes SA (OLA) between now and Monday October 17 at 1200 the measures it has taken to integrate OLA in Group I of the Europa League 2011/2012."II. said that the costs of this decision follow the destiny of the application and enforcement measures."III. declares the present order immediately enforceable."The letter is signed by judge Dominique Carlsson and clerk Coralie Jacot.In a separate development, the Swiss FA yesterday opened disciplinary proceedings against the six players involved - Stefan Glarner, Billy Ketkeophomphone, Mario Mutsch, Pascal Feindouno, Jose Goncalves and Gabri.The players stand accused of "a possible breach of Article 7, Paragraph 8 of the statutes of the Swiss Football Association as well as Article 7 of the statutes of the Swiss Football League" after taking their case to a civil court in Martigny, rather than to the CAS.They have been given until Monday to respond.
