Stuart Pearce is considering recalling Danny Welbeck to his England Under-21 squad if he does not feature against Montenegro. England manager Fabio Capello has handed Welbeck, who made his senior debut for his country in a friendly against Ghana in March, a call-up for Friday's final Euro 2012 qualifier in Podgorica. However, the presence of more experienced frontmen such as Wayne Rooney and Darren Bent in Capello's squad means the Manchester United striker is not guaranteed to play. Young Lions coach Pearce is considering asking Capello and United boss Sir Alex Ferguson if the 20-year-old can return for the U21s' Euro 2013 qualifier in Norway on Monday. Pearce is lacking options up front after Nathan Delfouneso and Martyn Waghorn both suffered hamstring injuries during Thursday night's 3-0 victory in Iceland. Questioned over whether he would recall Welbeck, the coach told The Sun: "We have suffered two hamstring injuries to two attacking players so in my mind it certainly becomes a consideration. "I will have to speak to Fabio and one or two others. We will have to see how the dust settles and get an understanding of the situation."I wanted to take on Norway with the squad I had here in Iceland. But the two injuries have really put us flat to the boards in advanced positions."
