Sunderland boss Steve Bruce is hoping Ahmed Al Muhammadi will prove to be a shrewd acquisition.
The Egypt international is reportedly set to agree a season-long loan deal at the Stadium of Light after impressing during a recent trial spell.
He will join the Wearsiders from ENPPI and arrives with a glowing reputation in his homeland.
Dubbed 'the Egyptian David Beckham', due to his extravagant lifestyle, Al Muhammadi will, however, have a point to prove to some in the Premier League.
Bruce, though, believes the 21-year-old full-back has the all necessary credentials to be a success in England.
The Black Cats boss endured a difficult relationship with another Egyptian star, Amr Zaki, during his days at Wigan, but he is convinced taking on Al Muhammadi is not a risk.
"He is highly-rated, a player for the future," he said.
