Fourteen Leeds and Manchester United fans charged

Fourteen fans have been charged for varying offences following the tempestuous Carling Cup clash  between Leeds and Manchester United on Tuesday night.The match was marred by vile chanting from both sets of fans which has led to a public outcry for those responsible to be banned from grounds. A section of the home fans replied with sick chants relating to the 1958 Munich air disaster in which 23 people lost their lives. Three men - aged 27, 38, and 40 - were released on police bail after being arrested on suspicion of public order offences.A 23-year-old man received a fine forbeing drunk and disorderly while two 16-year-olds received reprimands for public order offences. Fanning the flames: There has been a long standing feud between the two sidesOthers were charged with throwing a missile onto the playing field, ticket touting, public order, indecent/racial chanting, and possession of a Class B drug.Four men - aged 19, 23, 45 and 46 - who were arrested on suspicion of making off without payment were later released without charge. The charged will appear before Leeds Magistrates Court between October 4 and October 6.
