Bristol Rovers 0-1 Aldershot: Report

Rodman keeps Shots' unbeaten run goingAlex Rodman's first-half winner extended Aldershot Town's unbeaten run to seven matches in all competitions, as they beat Bristol Rovers 1-0 at the Memorial Stadium. The winger struck in the 36th minute to net his first goal of the season, capitalising after a slip by Pirates defender Adam Virgo had allowed the Shots the chance to break on goal.Michael Rankine took advantage to surge forward and, although Rovers defender Cian Bolger got in a tackle, the ball eventually broke to Rodman, who fired home a low shot from 12 yards. It was the second away win in a row for the Shots, who turned in an impressive display and withstood all the home side could throw at them.Chris Zebroski had a couple of first-half chances for the Pirates, but fired an angled shot from the corner of the 18-yard box across goal and saw keeper Ross Worner beat out another fierce attempt.Soon after the break, Eliot Richards stabbed wide from six yards for Rovers in a goalmouth scramble but, at the other end, Aldershot's Luke Guttridge nodded past the post from a corner when it looked easier to score.Rovers were furious when they had a 73rd-minute penalty appeal rejected. Matt Harrold appeared to be flattened by keeper Worner as he chased down a long clearance, but referee Tony Bates was unimpressed and the Shots withstood some later pressure to nail down their victory.Bristol Rovers 0-1 Aldershot: Match Report - view commentary, squad, and statictics of the game as it happened.
