Euro 2012 Group F Update - September 2011

Croatia and Greece swapped places at the top of Group F after Greece were held to a surprise 1-1 draw by Latvia in Riga. Meanwhile, Croatia came from behind against 10 man Isreal to secure all three points with a 3-1 victory in Zagreb. Both teams are now assured of a top two finish with just the small matter of the order of placement to be determined. The two countries meet in Olympiakos's Georgios Karaiskakis stadium on October 7th in what is now effectively a winner takes all clash. Victory for the Croats will ensure their progression whilst, although not guaranteeing qualification, a Greek victory would leave the 2004 Champions hot favourites for the group. They would then require just a point from their final game in Georgia four days later to ensure that they progressed on to the Final stages next summer as group winners. Remaining fixtures: October 7th: Latvia v Malta Greece v Croatia October 11th Croatia v Latvia Georgia v Greece Malta v Isreal
