Tottenham's Harry Redknapp denies David James link and puts faith in Carlo Cudicini

Redknapp is without Huerelho Gomes, his goalkeeper, after the Brazilian injured a thigh muscle in Wednesday's 5-1 win at Hull. He will be out for up to three months, but Redknapp has insisted that he will keep faith with Cudicini in his absence rather than search for a replacement ahead of the transfer deadline.  Related ArticlesWest Ham v Tottenham previewDefoe keen for Upton Park returnSpurs injury fears over GomesAssou-Ekotto given new four-year dealHull 1 Tottenham 5'Everyone wants to buy Modric'Redknapp said: 'Gomes has torn a muscle so we're not sure how long he'll be but it will be a while. 'I've got a fantastic goalkeeper in Carlo so we're not desperate. He's a top, top goalkeeper.' Redknapp has been linked with a move for Portsmouth goalkeeper David James but the manager added: 'I couldn't do anything with David. For me he's the best goalkeeper in the country, but we've still got Carlo.' Tottenham are top after two games but Redknapp, who recalls Ledley King at West Ham, said: 'To break into the top four would be fantastic but very difficult. We've had a terrific start, but that's only two games. If we're still at the top after 18 or 20 games we'll all be getting a little bit excited. 'Everybody was writing Arsenal off last week and they turned in a great performance. Man United, Chelsea, Liverpool are all top teams and there are plenty of other great teams there.'
