The 20-year-old's impressive first 45 minutes for Argyle as a second-half substitute in the 1-1 home draw with QPR earned him a start in the 3-1 home defeat by Cardiff.
But the Republic of Ireland Under-21 international suffered a leg injury requiring his substitution after 25 minutes.
Boss Paul Sturrock said: "Losing Bradley Wright-Phillips through injury was a blow before the start of the season and now Sheridan being injured is a blow.
"He's taken a knock on the leg and had to come off."
