Cristian Zaccardo set to sign for Fulham

Wanted: Parma's Cristian ZaccardoFulham are closing in on a deal for Italy's 2006 World Cup winner Cristian Zaccardo.The Parma man would cost around ?2m and can play at right-back or in central defence.Zaccardo, 29, has 17 caps for his country but hasn't played since scoring an own-goal five years ago.Fulham boss Martin Jol hopes to complete a deal in the next few days after identifying the Italian as perfect defensive cover.Zaccardo, who has played in Germany for Wolfsburg, is also wanted by Serie A clubs Lazio and Genoa, but wants to play in the Premier League and his personal terms will not be aproblem.Jol also confirmed he is weighing up a raid on his old club Ajax for Morocco international Mounir El Hamdaoui.The striker, 27, hit 19 goals in 38 games last season to inspire the Amsterdam club to the Dutch titleEl Hamdaoui, who played for Jol at Tottenham, has fallen out of favour with new Ajax coach Frank de Boer. Jol said: 'It's not unthinkable for me to sign Mounir. He is incredibly honest and amazingly direct. He could be a pleasant surprise.'
