Pompey return delights Benjani

enjani is over the moon after re-signing with his old club Portsmouth, saying it's "great to be back" and feels like "coming home". The striker was presented to the Pompey fans ahead of their 1-0 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion in the Championship on Saturday and received a hero's welcome at Fratton Park.Benjani, who played for Portsmouth between January 2006 and January 2008, agreed to a one-year contract and says that he is delighted to return to his old club."It's great to be back," the 33-year-old Portsmouth's official website. "I love the Pompey fans and I've been thinking of them ever since I've been away."They always make you feel good. If you are down then they lift you up, so it's good to be back."They gave me a great reception before the Brighton game and I love everything about them. They make me feel special."I found out that Pompey wanted me on Thursday and we did the deal on Friday - I didn't have to think about it for a second because I knew I would be coming home." Benjani featured for Blackburn Rovers in the Premier League last season and scored three goals in 18 appearances in the top flight.This time the Zimbabwean will play in the second tier of English football but he remains just as enthusiastic."My level of fitness still needs to improve but I'm looking forward to getting out on the pitch and playing again," said the former Manchester City player. "The aim for me is to score goals for Pompey and help them climb the table."Portsmouth are currently 16th in the Championship table with just one point from two games. Steve Cotterill's side host Reading on Tuesday.
